No, that isn't true. We don't own any chickens or farms, Elizabeth, however we can tell you how the chickens are raised before they're made into our chicken products by our supplier, Cargill.
Most chickens in Canada are raised on family farms. The broiler hens are kept in climate-controlled barns to protect them against hot summers, cold winters, predators and disease. In these barns, the broiler chicks roam free on a floor that is covered with a bed of straw or wood chips. They have access to food and water through automatic feed systems and water lines, but they are not force fed.
